Living and learning the West Melton School Way:  Empowering our Learning Communities for the Future
Information and Communication Technology

The school is very well equipped with audio visual aids and ICT equipment.  The school has a good supply of , p.c's, t.vs and videos, DVD players, video camera, data projectors in every classroom and the library, 8 digital cameras, a pod of 16 laptops for the children's use, scanner, overhead projectors, math equipment, science equipment and supportive material in kits, text books, posters etc.We are building up a library of cds and  dvds related to the curriculum.
The laptops are fully booked out each week and the children are learning as fast as their teachers. All teachers are part of the ICT contract 2007-2009 and many have also participated in ICT papers towards a diploma.
Extensive use is made of the digital cameras, data projectors, laptops and classroom p.c's   as they are essential tools for 21st  Century learning and support our inquiry learning process.

The school strives hard to keep up to date with advances in information and communication technology. The school's computers are in use each day as children learn to use them as a functional tool for writing, publishing, blogging, accessing internet information, skype, e-mails and so on.  In 2007 the board approved the entire school cabling system to be updated and to include wireless capability. The school computers were networked and all classes have access to the internet, intranet and e-mail facilities. Teachers and students are able to access and store information on the school's SmartNet system.
The B.O.T. and PTA are firmly committed to the provision of educational technology and have an ongoing commitment to the ICT contract and the subsequent purchases of laptops, data projectors, eyeball cameras etc.

In 2007 our Library system  was also updated during the cabling and reprogramming phase.  An IBM compatible computer was also purchased and the students have access to a wide range of educational resources.

West Melton school wishes to thank these trusts for their assistance in the purchase of Data Projectors
