Cyber Safety
What is Cyber Safety and why is it important?
The term ‘Cybersafety’ refers to safe and responsible use of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT). These technologies may include use of the computers, iPads, internet, email and other online tools.

We live in a digital age where people, including children, communicate using a range of Information and Communication Technologies. As a result of this increased online communication there needs to be a raised awareness of the Cyber Safety issues that families, schools and communities now face.

At West Melton School we believe that the internet is a powerful tool for education. We are committed to ensuring that our students learn to use this tool in a responsible and safe way. We feel strongly that this is a shared responsibility between home and school to ensure the online safety of our next generation.

As part of this commitment we provide cyber safety lessons throughout the school. We also provide workshops for students and parents throughout the year facilitated by John Parsons. John is an Internet Safety and Risk Assessment Consultant to schools, the private sector and the health sector, providing specialist advice and direction on the safe use of Digital Communication Technology.
